Small Town Paparazzi?

Sometimes there are things that no one would believe unless they can see it for themselves. Driving through Saint Clair, Missouri one morning I spotted Uncle Sam and the Easter Bunny hanging out together. Unfortunately, Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy were nowhere to be seen. Seems the person at the table down the way is completely oblivious to the celebrities.

Foggy Morning 1

IMGP2344-Edit-01There has always been a special joy in my soul for a good foggy morning. The world looks and sounds so different in the fog. It is time best spent outdoors either in solitude with the Creator or else with a good friend or two. Speak softly, if at all, letting the quiet and mystique soak into your heart and mind.

If there is an accessible river or creek nearby go and spend time there as you can. Let the flow of water carry away the weight of the world for a little time, it is good therapy.

This photo was made on a local river that I have lived near and visited for fifty years.

The Journey Begins

Welcome! Come in, look around, I hope you see something that you like.

Some days I call myself a photographer but the truth of it is I’m just the owner of some magic boxes, memory machines, if you like. I decide where to place the box, what it should be looking at, which buttons to push, the dials to turn and press the magic button. Viola, a tiny bit of light is turned into a memory. But something more than light is captured in these memory machines, little bits of ourselves and our stories are captured and frozen in them as well.

The idea for this blog came about as I was looking at cloud storage for some of my photos and pondering my general dissatisfaction with most photo sharing platforms. I don’t want to share my photos just for likes or to lose them amongst the millions of photos posted on a daily basis. Nor do I want Google algorithms mining them for useful data.

I want to share the thoughts and the memories that were captured in these photos and if I have been successful, you, the reader, will be able to see and feel something of the moment. So some of my photos will be released into the wild to live and breath. If someone else finds enjoyment or thought in one them their purpose will be fulfilled.

Thank you for joining me on the journey.
